Throughout the school year, as part of our Show Up Manchester attendance campaign, we'll be recognizing classes with excellent attendance. On Wednesday, we celebrated our first winner: Mrs. Phelan's 4th Grade class at Weston Elementary School. The class has over 99% attendance for the year!
The class received the first traveling trophy and each student received a sticker. Weston will be tracking all of its attendance award winners throughout the year on a bulletin board in the school. Great job to everyone!
This week, Manchester School District announced we will launch our first dual-language immersion program in the fall of 2024. The Spanish-English program will start at the elementary level, with two classes of kindergarten students, and it will be open to students from across the city.
We'll be hosting a pair of informational sessions on the program – one in Spanish (at 4:30 pm) and one in English (at 5:30 pm) – next Wednesday, October 4, at Memorial High School. You can find more information on the program and the event here: https://www.mansd.org/article/1259332.
Thank you to Southside 5th Grader Kayleigh for leading the pledge of allegiance at tonight's Board of School Committee meeting. Kayleigh had an opportunity to talk with Mayor Craig and Committee Members Dion and Perich in the mayor's office (and even sit in the mayor's chair).
