MANCHESTER – For the first time this month, the Manchester School District’s 21st Century Programs hosted a series of Family Library Nights in partnership with the Manchester City Library.

The events, which took place at Beech Street, Gossler Park and Webster Elementary Schools, offered an introduction to the library by Library Youth Services staff Karyn Isleb, Yvonne Freebourn and Dori Eisenstat. In addition to detailing the services available, library staff connected students with library cards so they'll be able to start taking advantage right away.

“Family engagement events like these are a great way to connect our families with some of the many resources available in Manchester” said Tom McGee, the Program Director for 21st Century. “Our goal is to continue to offer these on a variety of topics to support our families.”

A special thanks goes to generous donations from Hannaford, Mr. Mac’s, Shorty’s, Wrap City, Currier Museum of Art and Puritan Backroom for food and door prizes at the Gossler Park event, as well as to Pizza 911 for our Webster event.

In addition to the elementary school events, the 21st Century program at the Middle School at Parkside hosted a Winter Family Bingo Night. This event was hosted in partnership with the Statewide Family Engagement Center, GEAR UP, City Year and drew nearly 100 students and family members.

21st Century is planning additional family engagement events in the second half of the school year.
