Students from Wilson Elementary perform "Waving Flags" during the 2023 CelebratED MHT

MANCHESTER – On Saturday, Veterans Park buzzed with excitement as we hosted the 2023 edition of CelebratED MHT. The rain that seemed inevitable held off, allowing our students to shine all day long.

Each of Manchester School District’s 21 schools participated in the event, whether through live performances, presentations, activities, or even giving visitors a look inside a student-built plane. The event – billed as a celebration of our schools and community – brings together the District’s many community partner organizations in one place. Those partner organizations, as well as our own student organizations, set up around the park, offering fun activities, prizes and giveaways to all.

“Every year, this event has just gotten better, and this year we had even greater participation from our schools,” said Superintendent Jennifer Chmiel Gillis. “There is so much to celebrate in our schools, and this event brings that out in a way we haven’t always been able to. We are so thankful for our co-host Manchester Proud, as well as all of the students, staff, volunteers and partner organizations who made this day possible.”

New to the celebration this year were the Game Changer awards, which were presented throughout the day and recognized our amazing students and staff. Schools were asked to nominate students and staff who go above and beyond every day. It was an amazing sight seeing so many of our own recognized for what they bring to their school every day. Elementary schools once again participated in the We Show Up contest, with students from each school placing a sticker on their school’s poster. The winner, for the second year in a row, was Smyth Road Elementary School. The entire school will get an ice cream party, courtesy of the Puritan Backroom, and each student will receive passes to the SEE Science Center.

Thank you to everyone who participated in and attended CelebratED MHT – we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
