MANCHESTER ADULT HIGH SCHOOL

Program Overview

The Manchester Adult High School (MAHS) is a year-round program and is affiliated with the Manchester School District and the New Hampshire Department of Education.  It is available to any New Hampshire resident who is 16 years of age or older who wishes to complete the requirements for a Manchester School District high school diploma.

The MAHS offers a diploma for: (a) completion of high school graduation requirements or (b) completion of adult education graduation requirements.

The MAHS uses a rolling admissions system for our online classes.  This means that we do not adhere to a calendar of when classes begin and end.  Students may enroll at any time.  All Manchester Adult High School courses end on June 30.  Students who have not completed the course will be re-enrolled in a new section of the same course.

A high school student may apply to enroll in any Adult Education class provided that they receive prior approval from their Principal, Guidance Counselor, and if they are under 18 years old, their parent/guardian/caregiver.  A high school student who wishes to be dually enrolled in the Manchester Adult High School must have a minimum of 10 credits.

High school students with Individualized Education Plans, 504 Plans, or English Language Learners wishing to enroll in the Manchester Adult High School will need to have a Team meeting prior to enrollment. The "home" high school will be responsible for the continuation of these services.

To be eligible to attend the Adult Education Program on a full-time basis, a student must receive approval to enroll from their high school principal or be over 18 years of age.   If the student is still enrolled in high school and they wish to apply to the Manchester Adult High School, then they must present the Principal with a plan outlining justification for attendance.

In alignment with the New Hampshire Department of Education Bureau of Adult Education, students may be eligible to earn credit for outside experiences. The Principal of the Adult High School will be able to add/discontinue Alternative Credit Options as needed.

The Adult High School will comply with all regulations and expectations of the New Hampshire’s Department of Education's Bureau of Adult Education.

Manchester School District students are allowed to transfer up to eight (8) credits earned from the Adult High School to their high school for the purpose of graduation.  Manchester high school students may be able to participate in their "home" high school's graduation provided that they complete the Adult Education requirements within three years of their original cohort and they receive written permission from that school's Principal.
