21st Century Grants Up for Renewal

Sept. 6, 2023 - June 2024 might be an entire school year away, but our staff are already planning hard as eight program locations will be up for renewal that month. Bakersville, Gossler Park, McDonough, Parker-Varney, Hillside, McLaughlin, Parkside and Southside will all be coming to the end of their current five year grant (2019-2024).

What does this mean? A community-wide planning process will occur this school year to gather input and data for our renewal application for these eight schools. This process is expected to begin in the mid-winter by the New Hampshire Department of Education.

21st Century Programs are funded by Title IV, Part B Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants, which are distributed by the United States Department of Education to the tune of $1.3 Billion dollars in FY24. Schools must be Title I in order to qualify, and funding must be used to provide out-of-school time tutoring, intervention and enrichment to increase student achievement. Manchester first received a 21st Century grant in 2004 and has expanded the initial 9 schools to 14 in 2021 with the addition of Jewett, Webster and Weston.
