Welcome

I am very excited to be given the opportunity to be in third grade with such a wonderful group of children. My goal is to make sure that every child is happy, safe and becomes more of an independent learner.

Homework

Spelling- On Monday students will receive their weekly spelling words. This take home list of words is to be kept all week long for their spelling assignments.

Reading-Students are expected to read for at least 15 minutes every night. Please encourage your child to reread their favorite books, allow them to read to you, and please, you read aloud to them. This helps to increase their reading fluency and word recognition and improves comprehension. Some students may also be receiving occasional reading packets to complete during the week.

Math- Your child will have a math worksheet at least three times a week, but on the days they do not receive written math homework they should study their math facts. It is very important that 3rd graders become automatic with their addition, subtraction and multiplication math facts.

Students need to bring their assignment notebooks and homework folders to and from school and home everyday. I ask that parents check their child's homework and assignment notebook every night. Please remember: homework should be completed by the child with very little help (if any) from the parent. If the homework is consistently too difficult, please let me know. If your child completes their homework quickly, please make sure they check it for accuracy. Additional time could be spent on reading or practicing math facts.

Specials- Daily 10:15-11:00

Monday- Physical Education with Ms. Lacasia (please remember sneakers)

Tuesday – Health with Ms. Larkin

Wednesday – Library with Ms. Corradino

Thursday – Art with Mrs. Christopher

Friday – Music with Ms. Santarelli

Contact Me

Please contact me by email, phone or a note, if you have any questions or concerns. I will get back to you as soon as I can. Please remember that if you leave a message on the phone I may not get it until the end of the school day after students have left. For a more prompt response you may want to email me at school. I check my email at least twice a day and I would more likely receive an email message before a phone message from the office. I would mostly likely respond right away to emailed questions or concerns.
