Guidance Counseling Services

At Weston School, we are fortunate to have the services of two guidance counselors. Mrs. Alexis Wallace is the full time counselor, and Ms. Laverne MacInnis is with us 4 days a week, Tuesday through Friday.

Guidance Counselors help children when there are emotional issues that impact their school day. We work with the children in groups or individually. Ms. MacInnis does mostly group work, and Mrs. Wallace does mostly individual work as well as the classroom guidance lessons. To date the Kindergarten and First Grade classes have had several visits with Mrs. Wallace, aka "The Puppet Lady". The lessons focused on good friendship skills, respect of personal space, appreciation of differences, tattling vs. good telling, and good listening skills. The children enjoy their role as "helpers" to the puppets who are "having the problem".

The counselors also consult with teachers and parents. Please feel free to contact us if we can be of any help to you.

Mrs. Wallace can be contacted by e-mail at awallace@mansd.org,
Ms. MacInnis would like parents and families of Weston students to know that she checks her email daily, and can be contacted at lmacinnis@mansd.org
