Student Expectations

RESPECTFUL
Allow anyone to sit next to you. Respect others' space. Use quiet voices.
Listen to all adults. Use appropriate language. Use proper manners while
eating.
Help keep hallways clean. Maintain personal space. Respect classes in
session. Respect others property. Keep hands and feet to self.
Interact appropriately. Properly use equipment in designated areas. Use
designated walkways. Maintain personal space. Use appropriate language.
Keep area clean and floor dry. Maintain a graffiti free environment.
Place paper towels in proper receptacles. Flush toilets after use.
Sit and stay in assigned seat. Keep hands and feet to self. Use quiet
voice. Listen to driver's directions.
Follow classroom expectations as determined by; (1) school, (2) team,
(3) teacher.
Use appropriate voice and language. Sit in designated areas. Maintain
personal space. Follow event protocol.
Get necessary materials and move along. Open and close lockers quietly.
Respect others property. Keep area and locker clean. Respect other
classrooms in area. Handle books and materials properly.
RESPONSIBLE Stay in single file line. Get everything when first going through line.
Raise hand and wait for adult to answer. Line up when directed. Clean up
area. Food and drink remains in cafeteria.
Walk facing forward slowly and safely. Help keep hallways clean. Stay to
the right of the hallways and stairwells. Keep traffic flowing. Use your
hall pass properly.
Stay on school grounds. Ask for permission to leave area. Place trash in
proper receptacles. Follow staff directions. Stay off fences, shrubs and
trees.
Sign Out Properly, Return to class promptly. Use hall pass properly. Use
soap and water for washing hands. Use closest restroom.
Arrive on time. Line up and load buses in a safe and orderly manner.
Follow bus rules. Be on the correct bus. Exit in orderly manner. Speak in
conversational voices.
Arrive on time to class. Be prepared as determined by teacher. Allow
teachers to teach.
Walk single file, facing forward to designated areas. Proceed to assembly
area quietly. Follow event protocol.
Keep personal belongings inside assigned locker. Keep area above lockers
free of all materials. Keep locker area clean. Clean lockers out
quarterly. Use lockers at assigned times. Use appropriate language.
RESULTS

DISCIPLINE GUIDELINES UNDER THE CODE OF CONDUCT FOR SOUTHSIDE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND WITH THE SOUTHSIDE MIDDLE SCHOOL DISCIPLING MATRIX

Communication between the home and the school is essential - therefore:

1. The parent or guardian of a student assigned to detention will be notified in writing.

2. The parent or guardian of a student suspended will be asked to confer with the School Administration.
