Should an emergency or disaster situation arise on our area while school is in session, it is the responsibility of the Southside community to do the best that we can to respond effectively. The Manchester School District has mandated that each school in the district develop a site-specific plan to follow in the event of a major catastrophe, including but not limited to fire, earthquake, armed intruder, plane crash, severe blizzard, or bomb threat.
During the school year we periodically drill the following procedures:
1. Students should report to the nearest classroom.
2. Close all windows, lock your doors and do not leave for any reason.
3. Cover all door and room windows.
4. Stay away from all doors and windows and move students to interior walls and drop.
5. Shut off all lights.
6. BE QUIET!
7. Wait for further instructions.
1. DROP - Take cover under nearby desk or table and face away from the windows.
2. COVER - your eyes by leaning your face against your arm.
3. HOLD - on to the table or desk legs.
1. Students are to be cleared from the halls immediately and report to assigned classrooms.
2. Close and tape all windows and doors and seal the gap between the bottom of door and floor.
3. Take attendance. Use intercom to report missing students.
4. Do not allow anyone to leave the classroom. Emergency bathroom use only - buddy system.
5. Stay away from all windows and doors.
6. Wait for further instructions.
1. Begin evacuation procedures.
2. Teacher gathers rank book and emergency bucket.
3. Report to assigned area with class.
4. Take attendance and maintain order and quiet.
5. Missing student report will be collected.
