West High School students will participate in a discussion of the results
of the New Hampshire primary Jan. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on
C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal,” a daily public affairs show shown on
channel 44 on Manchester’s cable system.
The students will interview a “major newsmaker” about the results of the
primary, according to Gary Dempsey, assistant principal. The students
will conduct their interview from the C-Span school bus, a mobile studio
in a converted bus that travels the country during election season.
C-SPAN is a private, non-profit company, created in 1979 by the cable
television industry as a public service. It’s mission is to provide public
access to the political process. C-SPAN receives no government funding;
operations are funded by fees paid by cable and satellite affiliates who
carry C-SPAN programming.
