Two Manchester students will represent New Hampshire at the fifth annual “Afterschool Challenge and Breakfast of Champions” to be held May 23 and May 24 in Washington, DC.
Kevin Tremblay, a Central High School student, and Kayla Rodriguez, a Hillside Middle School student, will represent the state. They were chosen based on essays they submitted that explained the impact afterschool programs have had in their lives.
Both students participate in the Manchester School District’s 21st Century afterschool program.
“The Washington event brings together afterschool program advocates and congressional leaders to discuss the benefits of afterschool programming. The students are thrilled to have the opportunity to represent the state, the city, and their schools,” according to Donna Mostovoy, coordinator of the 21st Century program.
