Preschool To Be Named After Selma Deitch

  Ceremony Set for Thursday

Manchester’s Developmental Preschool will be renamed after the late Dr. Selma Deitch in a ceremony to take place Thursday, May 11 at 5:45 p.m.

The ceremony will take place at the Bishop Leo O’Neil Center on South Beech St.   The Bishop O’Neil Center houses a developmental preschool program.  The public is welcome to attend.

The dedication ceremony will feature remarks from Mayor Frank Guinta, Superintendent Mike Ludwell, and representatives from the preschool and Dr. Deitch’s family.

Deitch, a Manchester native and Central High School graduate, was the founder of Child Health Services, a nationally recognized clinic that serves low income clients.  Deitch died in 2004 at the age of 79.

The developmental preschool serves 3 and 4 year olds.  The preschool is located at 555 Auburn St. and at satellite locations across the city, including the Bishop O’Neil Center.
