Registration for kindergarten and new first grade students for the

schools.

To be registered for kindergarten, a child must turn 5 by Sept. 30, 2008.
To register for first grade, a child must turn 6 by that date.

Webster and Smyth Road Schools will register students March 31. Wilson
and Beech Street Schools will hold registration sessions April 1. Weston
and Parker-Varney Schools will register students April 2.

On April 3, Hallsville and Jewett St. will hold registration sessions,
followed by McDonough and Bakersville April 4, Northwest and
Highland-Goffe’s Falls April 7, and Green Acres and Gossler Park April 8.

Each school will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from noon to
2:30 p.m. to register students. There will be no kindergarten classes
held on a school’s assigned registration day.

Evening sessions for parents who cannot register students during the day
are slated for April 8 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gossler Park and Green
Acres Elementary Schools. Parents of incoming kindergarteners and new
first graders who will attend any school may register their children at
the evening sessions.

Parents must bring their child’s birth certificate and immunization record
to registration. They must also bring two forms of proof of residence.
No proof of citizenship is required.

Prior to entering school in September, students must have proof of being
vaccinated against diphtheria, whooping cough, polio, measles, mumps,
rubella, hepatitis B, and chicken pox. Proof of a tetanus shot is also
required.

The Manchester Health Department offers immunizations for free at
regularly scheduled clinics. Schedules can be obtained by calling
624-6466.

Children must have a physical examination before the start of school.
Children who do not meet immunization or physical examination requirements
will not be admitted to school in September.

Any requests for immunization waivers based on religious beliefs or
medical requirements must be made in writing to the principal of the
school the student seeking the waiver will attend. Physical examination
forms are available at each school from the nurse or the principal.
Completed forms must be returned to schools prior to the first day of
classes in the fall.

School nurses will be available to answer questions during registration.

Parents may download health and enrollment forms from the district
website, mansd.org .

Parents are warned that students may undergo language testing on the day
of registration or they will be scheduled for testing at another time.
