Comcast Employees To Embark Upon Annual Reading Initiative
Cable Company To Donate $10,000 in Books To Students

Who? Scores of Comcast employees

What? Will read to every elementary school student in Manchester, and the
company will donate $10,000 worth of books to students

When? The week of March 10 (The schedules vary at each school, but the
bulk of the effort will take place in the morning. Please contact David
Scannell at 624-6300 x169 for a schedule.)

Where? All Manchester elementary schools

Why? “Comcast takes its commitment to the community very seriously and has
built this reading program over the past four years into one that
principals, teachers, and students look forward to with great
anticipation”

Special Announcements: The Comcast initiative coincides with “Read Across
America Week,” a nationwide effort to encourage literacy. “Read Across
America/Comcast Reads” kick-off event will take place at 9: 00 a.m.
Thursday, March 15 at Manchester’s Henry Wilson School, 401 Wilson Street.

On March 13, the McDonough School is planning an elaborate, day-long
series of events to celebrate the presence of Comcast employees and a
number of other guest readers during the day, including members of the
Wolves and the Monarchs and various elected officials.
