P-V Process

    Swim carefully!
There are ocean animals all around you!

Day 1:

You and your partner will choose an animal that lives in the ocean.

Day 2:

You will use the Internet links provided in the Resources section below to find your information and the links provided on the Ocean Animals Website on our school website.

You and your partner will record your findings on the worksheets given to you.  As you explore the Internet sites, look for answers to the questions below. Answer the questions on your worksheets neatly in complete sentences. Both partners need to take turns writing.

Think about anything special that you see or read about that you will want to put in your diaroma. Bring any materials that you want to use for your diaroma to school tomorrow.

                               1. What is the name of your ocean animal?
                               2. What does your ocean animal look like?
                               3. What is your ocean animal's habitat like?
                               4. What does your ocean animal eat?
                               5. What plants or animals are part of your ocean
                          animal's food chain?

RESOURCES

Check these Internet sites in the order that they are listed, so that you will be able to find information that you can read and understand easily!

Day 3:

You and your partner will create a shoebox diorama of your sea animal in its habitat.  The diorama should show CLEARLY your ocean animal, its habitat, and other sealife that live in this marine biome.  Use the supplies that you brought from home and the ones your teacher provides you with to create your diorama.

Day 4:

You will be given a poster board. You and your partner will divide poster paper into three sections.

You and your partner will attach your completed worksheets to the first section of the poster.

On the second section of the poster, you will draw a picture of your sea animal thriving in its habitat.

On the third section of the poster, draw five lines on the bottom of the section. You will draw a picture of your sea animal in a habitat that has been harmed by litter and other kinds of pollution.  In this drawing, use the information that you obtained from the Internet (you may go back on-line to look up information) to help you to consider and to illustrate possible harmful effects to your animal. On scrap paper, write at least two sentences to explain the effect that you believe pollution could have on your ocean animal and its habitat  Have an adult check them and then copy them over on the lines you created on your poster.

Notes:

The dioramas and posters that you and your classmates produce will be put on display in your classroom.

Your teacher will take pictures of your projects and display them on the school website.

Evaluation:

You will be evaluated on the following:

Your level of participation and cooperation.
The quality of information that you gathered from your research.
The accuracy, the detail, and the neatness of your diorama and poster projects.
