Welcome to the PTG!
The PTG or, Parent Teacher Group, is an organization committed to strengthening the bond between home and school. Planning fund raising events, holding raffles, participating in bake sales and volunteering a much needed “pair of hands” are just a small part of being involved in your child’s school. There are many additional ways you can show YOUR child how important the school community is to YOU, thereby building a stronger sense of the importance of school and community within your child.
Attending and being actively involved at monthly PTG meetings shows your child, in a tangible way, how important education, community, and teamwork are to you and your child’s success at school. Your thoughts and ideas are always welcomed and highly encouraged so that we may collectively better serve the Parker- Varney Elementary School community.
The following is a guide to a typical PTG meeting with the hope that it will help you to be an informed participant in the process:
Most importantly, this is YOUR meeting. The PTG board is here to moderate. We welcome your involvement and want to thank you for taking the time to come tonight and be an active part of the Parker-Varney community.

Update January 2010 - We hope to do another order near Mother's Day- Check back soon ! December's order was very successful ! Thank you helping to make this fundraiser a huge sucess. It is hard to believe that Christmas is around the corner, somewhere just past Thanksgiving, report cards, car pools and ball games! It is always a whirlwind and I know the rush can take the joy out of this wonderful season. Our School would like to help make Christmas a little easier, perhaps more enjoyable this year and make a difference for our programs, children and school. You can help us by considering our Scrip Program as a source for your holiday buying! We have gift certificates from over 400 local and national vendors. Each would make great gifts for family, friends, teachers, employers, and associates on your lists! Our school buys these certificates at a discount and then we sell them for their face value. We can make between 2% -28% profit on gifts you are going to buy anyway! Why not give a gift that will benefit more than just the person who receives it! Click below for a printable order form listing the gift certificates that are available. Ordering is simple --each gift certificate and the value available is listed on the enclosed form. Just write the number of certificates needed in the space provided. Total your order and attach a check made out to our school and return by Tuesday, December 8 th . We can have these gifts back to you by Friday, December 18 th . If you need your gift certificates earlier please make arrangements prior to December 8 th deadline to ensure prompt delivery. Remember that with every purchase you would be investing in the children of our school, the school programs, and our community. We hope to make your first Christmas shopping for 2009 the best ever! Have you ever wondered
what to do with your used Printer Cartridges and Cell
Phones? This will be our third year that Parker -
Varney will be collecting empty Printer Cartridges (Ink Jet
and Laser) and used Cell Phones to earn supplies/ money for
Parker-Varney. As you collect these items just send them to
school with your child. Miss Jobel (Grade 4) will be
collecting them again this year. We will earn technology equipment or sports and recreation equipment for recycling these items! Since starting this program in November of 2004 we have earned a total of 15,844.77 points (about $6,000.00) Please let your family and place of work know about this program so that they can also help you support our school.
