Welcome to Study Island!

Students are given a choice of stories to read from their on-line libraries. They then listen to the computer as it reads their selection to them. A dictionary component is available for explanations of the more difficult words. After listening to the story, students are given an opportunity to read to the computer. While they are reading, the program will offer help with pronunciation if the student encounters any problems. The students are then given a chance to hear themselves read so that they may self-evaluate their efforts. Comprehension quizzes are taken at the end of each story.

Soliloquy gives our teachers the opportunity to listen to their students read, track their fluency levels and assess their comprehension skills.

The students who are involved with this program are making great strides in their reading skills while enjoying the interaction with technology.
