Mrs. Cole's Class Thanksgiving photos
Each year the Life Skills class at McDonough plans and prepares a feast for staff, students, and administrators from the district. The Life Skills Program focuses on functional academics . The class cooks once a week and they are learning to read simple recipes, mix ingredients, measure ingredients and then clean up. They wash, rinse and dry the dishes and wash the tables. By cooking once a week they use their newly acquired skills to make a Thanksgiving Dinner each year. They are now making cookies once a week to sell in the teacher's room . The money raised will go to the Cheerleader's for their expenses.
They also cut, sort and count Campbell's Soup Labels throughout the school year. Each year Paula Cole and her assistants work with their students to prepare a feast to serve and share with many invited guests.
The Thanksgiving Dinner was Thursday, Nov. 16th at 12:00 in the Life Skills classroom. They made a complete Turkey Dinner with turkey, stuffing, squash, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, rolls and apple crisp pie for dessert. The following people attended from the school department, Dr. Ludwell, Dr.Bass, Dr. Aliberti, Dr. Duclos, Karen Burkush. Along with our principal, Mr. D and other staff members. The students from Mrs. Cole's class invited their homeroom teachers and one friend from their homerooms. The dinner was delicious and the students had fun preparing the dinner and setting the tables for all of their friends.
