At McDonough School we recognize the important role that families play in a child's education. The level of a parent's involvement is one of the most important factors in determining how successful a student will be in school. The McDonough School PTA is where parents can make their connection to the McDonough School community. The PTA sponsors family events, like the Fall Fun Fest and the Ice Cream Social, parent workshops, and coffee hours with our principal, Mr. D. We also publish the monthly PTA News to keep our parents informed of our activities and tell them about important events at the school. We make and sell popcorn every Friday. We conduct two major fundraisers a year, and an election day bake sale, a holiday shop, and a book fair. These events pay for student field trips, classroom supplies, assemblies, and parent programs. Proceeds from the book fair are used to enhance our school library collection. Our Parents as Partners Committee's parent involvement programs have been featured in PTO Today magazine and the NH Parent Information Center newsletter. The McDonough School PTA is an affiliate of the National PTA. Membership dues are $3.00 per person. You do not have to be a member to attend the monthly meetings or help with events and activities in the school. Membership entitles you to vote at PTA meetings and to run for PTA offices. You may join the PTA at anytime during the year by contacting Jean Peterson 661-1189. If you can't afford to pay the dues, don't worry about it. Talk to Jean. It is you we want, not your money.
