MANCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT CLOSING PROCEDURES FOR SNOWSTORMS AND/OR OTHER EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

Per statutory requirement, the Superintendent of Schools and/or his designee is responsible for decisions relative to school closings, and/or early dismissals.

The Manchester Superintendent or designee shall arrive at a carefully considered judgment through personal observation, national, state and local weather bureau forecasts and consultation with Highway and M.T.A. Authorities.

The Manchester School District will use only two alternatives relative to school closing procedures:
  1. All schools are closed for the day and all after school non-athletic activities canceled. Athletic activities scheduled will be reviewed by the Athletic Director and the Superintendent of Schools, and the media will be appropriately notified in advance of the activity.
  2. All schools will open ninety minutes late and all bus schedules will operate ninety minutes late as well.

*In the event of a late opening, all A.M. preschool and kindergarten classes will be canceled. All other programs will be held, but will begin ninety minutes late. Afternoon kindergarten classes will be held.*

The Manchester School of Technology classes will be on a regular schedule beginning at 9:55 a.m. The first class, usually scheduled from 8:00-9:40 a.m., will be canceled.

*NOTICE TO BEECH, BAKERSVILLE, GOSSLER-PARK, MCDONOUGH, WESTON, AND WILSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS*

All-day kindergarten classes will be held and begin ninety minutes late, as do other classes.
