Dear Parents/Guardians, Students and Visitiors,
We would like to welcome you to Jewett Street School! We are a kindergarten through grade five school located in the southeast end of Manchester, NH. We are also home to two developmental preschool classrooms and two special needs classrooms. Approximately 400 students comprise our student population.
Jewett Street School is a true neighborhood school. All students live within walking distance of the school. This makes for a unique atmosphere of community and caring. Respect is a common theme, which permeates everything we do. We show respect for our community, each other and for ourselves.
The Jewett Parent Teacher Group is very active and members can be seen working in the building on a daily basis. In addition to working in the school library, running the school spirit shop, sponsoring fundraising efforts, the PTG conducts numerous evening events for our families to attend together. These wonderful activities have earned Jewett School its fourteenth Blue Ribbon Award for School Volunteerism.
Jewett School also has an active business partnership with the Elliot Hospital. One of the longest running school/business partnerships in the school system, the partnership has recently been awarded its sixteenth Gold Circle Award for partnerships. This is attribute to the hardworking staffs from both institutions.
One of our most important goals is to maintain active communication between home and school. Students are presented with a folder on opening day with information critical to a successful school year. In this folder is the school's handbook that explains the school rules and the District's Code of conduct. Students also receive a large communication envelope that goes home every Wednesday. These Wednesday Envelopes contain many notices informing parents of ongoing events and activities at school. Teachers may supplement these weekly notices with their own classroom newsletters.
The goal of Jewett Street School is to provide a strong educational program within a safe and caring environment that guides students to become lifelong learners. We look forward to your participation and collaboration in the huge responsibility.
Sincerely,
Peter Lubelczyk
