FIRST (For the Inspiration and recognition of Science and Technology) has created an exciting program for 9 -14 year old students that explores technology and science in an exciting and realistic learning environment .

A team of students with the guidance of engineers and faculty advisors attempt to create a robot that performs specific tasks. This will be done using Lego's Mindstorms system which uses motors,sensors,gears,pulleys, a microcomputer, and infrared transmitter along with many other parts. This will allow the teams to research, plan, design, program, build, and test the robot. All this must be done in a given amount of time ending with a state tournament.

The Hillside team is sponsored by Stebbins,Lazos and VanDerbeken Attorneys, and the Sinotte Family.
