Principal's Message

Mr. Richard Norton

  • Welcome to Green Acres School. We are an elementary school located at 100 Aurore Avenue in Manchester, NH. We currently serve a population of approximately 550 students ranging from Kindergarten to grade five. We are a feeder school for the McLaughlin Middle School.
  • On behalf of all of the staff at Green Acres, I would like to thank Mrs. Christi Michaud, Mrs. Judy Comeau, Ms. Rivet for all the hard work they have done in developing our web site.
  • Mrs. Michaud, Mrs. Comeau, and Ms. Rivet are just a small part of a very talented and dedicated staff of professionals that are employed at Green Acres. Here at school, we continually strive to achieve a safe and caring environment for our students. To help ensure safety, a sign-in policy, that includes visitor stickers, exists and ALL visitors must participate in the process.
  • Our teachers have made the Responsive Classroom Curriculum part of their daily routine. This curriculum helps teach acceptance, tolerance, and good citizenship. In addition to the Responsive Classroom Curriculum, we have a school wide Peer Mediation Program. This program allows for students to meet and settle differences before they escalate into a major problem.
  • Green Acres is also home to the elementary portion of the Manchester Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The program currently services students from 18 different sending districts. In many cases, these students are mainstreamed into the classroom with assistance of a teacher of the deaf and an interpreter. For more information on the program, see the DEAF/HARD OF HEARING PROGRAM on our home page.
  • We have a very active Parent/Teacher Group at Green Acres. Some of our annual events include a Fall Family Picnic, Ice Cream Social, Penny Raffle, Book Fair, and a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. The group's fund raising efforts help support the school library, individual classrooms and several technology initiatives. Thanks to their efforts, Green Acres continues to receive the PARTNERS IN EDUCATION-BLUE RIBBON AWARD for volunteerism. All parents are urged to become active members of the group. The P.T.G. meetings are held monthly. As we all know, when home and school work "together" the results can be tremendous. Therefore, it is essential for parents and teachers to communicate in order to provide the students with the best possible education. Please visit our P.T.G. web page for more information and upcoming events.

Please feel free to call (624-6330) or stop by for a visit.

Thank you for visiting our website.
