Mrs. Morley
During the 2008-2009 school year, Green Acres students will participate in physical education classes one day each week.
Students in Readiness through grade two will focus on motor skill development activities with emphasis on goals such as movement exploration, gross motor movement, spatial awareness, and physical fitness. Cooperative play will also be a major component of the physical education curriculum.
Students in grades three through five will refine the skills introduced during their physical education classes in previous grade levels. They will also be introduced to team sport skills to foster the concepts of teamwork, sportsmanship, and love of athletics.
Please be sure that your child wears sneakers on “gym day.” Students should wear sneakers that are tightly laced to reduce ankle injuries. Students should not wear “platform-style” sneakers for safety reasons (they have been linked to severe ankle injuries). Also, please send a note with your child if you wish him/her to be excused or restricted from any physical education activity due to illness or injury.
At the end of each marking period, students will receive a physical education grade based on three areas of performance: skill, effort, and conduct.
Green Acres kids are fit!
