Memorial Day Program
Every year, Gossler Park School has a Memorial Day Program directed by our music teacher, Dr. Albertson. Each grade level performs a patriotic song as well as essays written and read by fifth graders. This year, Mrs. Tinkham's fifth grade class performed the song, We Are America. Artist in Residence
In May and June of 2006, we were fortunate to have the artist Rob Rossel, as our artist in residence. Mr. Rossel, a potter who has completed many large clay tile murals at schools all over the state, worked with our former art teacher, Ronald Budway to create a beautiful tile mural of the Manchester Mills. He visited for a total of 4 days and worked with the entire 3rd and 4th grade. Each student made one tile. When the tiles were put together, they created a mural measuring 40 square feet. If you would like to see examples of murals completed by this artist visit this website: www.claystudios.com go to the section titled "residencies".

This annual event is designed to introduce children Kindergarten through Second Grade the joy of reading. Teachers from our school read stories to the children while the adults have the opportunity to hear a guest speaker. Snacks are provided for children following their story.
Children attending receive a souvenir to take home. This program is free of charge to all participants and pajamas are optional.

We need your help for this event!
It takes many hands to ensure a successful and safe day.
This annual celebration is a way to thank our students and faculty for all of their hard work during the school year. We are fortunate to have the grilling and serving skills of the VFW Post 8214 for the cookout lunch. Hot dogs, buns, condiments, chips, beverages and dessert are provided for the entire student body and faculty.
A variety of outdoor games are played throughout the day. Food expenses are paid for by the PTG.
Gossler Park School will be sending home information to purchase T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweat pants, etc. with the school logo on it. This is a great gift idea, as well as supporting your school by wearing it! More information will be sent home soon! Please note that both adult and child sizes will be available. These are great gifts for your Gossler Park Gator!
Box Tops are found on many grocery items. Please cut them out and send them to school with your child. The more the school collects, the more money we receive to purchase equipment and other materials for our school. Keep up the good work !
We have been able to continue to give each child a book for his/her birthday this year due to the fundraising efforts of our P.T.G.. The children enjoy receiving the books and have fun browsing through the books to make their selections.
A bake sale will be scheduled once a month from November through May unless there is a planned activity for that month sponsored by the P.T.G.. Look for notices in Wednesday envelopes for upcoming bake sales. There is no popcorn during a bake sale week. If you can help out at this event or supply any treats that would be greatly appreciated. We ask that you send in the individually wrapped goods on the morning of the bake sale. They will be sold for 25 cents each.
BANK OF AMERICA MUSIC IN THE SCHOOLS PROGRAM
We are always thrilled to have the New England Brass visit Gossler Park School in March. We are able to have this program due to Bank of America's generosity. The students always enjoy this performance!
The students at Gossler Park School will continue their community service project. Every year the students collect pennies to help support many local organizations. Some organizations that we have donated to in the past are:
The American Red Cross
The American Lung Association
The Make a Wish Foundation
The American Red Cross continues to help our community. The American Lung Association provides programs for children with asthma and respiratory problems. The Make a Wish Foundation is an organization that grants wishes to seriously ill children. In the fall, this foundation granted a wish to a student from Gossler Park School.
On the second Wednesday of every month a student from each class is given a Gossler Park School Pride Award for his or her achievements.
We also have a Writers Wall and a student from each class is also recognized at this time.
The Gossler Park Spirit Shop will be visiting your child's classroom every Wednesday morning. Although some school supplies are provided by the school, we well be selling a variety of school supplies for children to purchase if they would like extras. The prices vary up to $2.50.Some of the items we sell include pencils, pens, crayons, markers, erasers, folders, notebooks, rulers, and pencil sharpeners.
