• Now in its 35th year, this national award is sponsored by the Boston Globe newspaper and the Horn Book, Inc. It annually honors authors and illustrators of outstanding children's and young adult books in these three categories: Fiction and Poetry, Nonfiction, and Picture Book. • The Great Stone Face Book Award was established in 1980, and is named after a natural rock formation in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Each year, a state librarians' committee selects 25 recently published children's books. The award is given annually to an author whose book receives the most votes from fourth through sixth grade children throughout our state. The purpose of the program is to promote reading enjoyment among New Hampshire's fourth through sixth graders, to increase awareness of contemporary writing, and to allow children a chance to honor a favorite author. • The Mildred Batchedler Award is granted to an American publisher of an English-language translation of a children's book originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country. Click here to see a list of these award winning books.

 

• The Pura Belpré Award, established in 1996, is presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth. Click here to see a list of these award winners
