Dear Parents,
I'd like to welcome you to Grade 3.
We need to work together to make sure each child is successful. Please help me to build a good attitude towards learning. Show an interest in and talk to your child about their school experiences. It is very important for each parent to check homework and look over papers sent home. You can give help where they're having troubles and praise them for their good work. If you show interest in their work, they'll be interested as well.
Homework will be given Monday through Thursday and must be returned the next day. Homework assignments that are not completed and returned will cost a child recess for the day. If for some reason homework cannot be returned, I need a note from parents stating why. Please sign the assignment books and be sure they're returned daily.
The children have spelling tests each Friday. They'll be working on learning the words all week. Going over the words each night will be beneficial. They will also be responsible for monthly book reports. Each month they will be given a form with different activities to do with the book they have read.
Our weekly schedule includes the following: Gym, all need to have sneakers to take part in gym class and girls need to wear slacks. (No dresses or skirts on gym day.) Music, art, and health. We also visit the Gossler Park Library at least once a week to borrow books and on occasion for research. It would be wonderful if your child read for fifteen minutes each night.
Please send in any milk and lunch money for the week either on Fridays or Mondays. The lunches are not prepared at our school and we need to make sure we have enough.
I send home book orders each month. Don't feel that you need to order. If you do order and pay by check, make out the check to the book company.
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to send a note or call.
Thanks Kindly,
Mrs. Peggy Filipowicz
