(Anticipated) School Psychologist

POSTED DATE: January 4, 2010 – January 18, 2010

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in school psychology or equivalent.
Certification in School Psychology or Licensed Psychologist.
Completed 45 graduate hours in school psychology or related area in addition to an internship.
Have completed no less than a 500-clock hour supervised internship with school age persons.
Requirements as set by the State of New Hampshire Certification Authorities and Board of School Committee regulations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

To administer a variety of psycho-educational instruments to students who are experiencing difficulties (academic or behavioral) in the classroom. Provide written evaluation reports, counseling of students and participation in IEP Team meetings. To help the schools determine if a student is eligible for special education services.

SALARY: Teacher salary scale

CONTRACT YEAR: 183 days

High School Outreach Coordinator

POSTED DATE: January 7, 2010 – January 14, 2010

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree required; major coursework in Education, Guidance or Social Work preferred
Middle or high school experience with students preferred
Knowledgeable of local high school alternative education programs, local community services, local job placement opportunities and other local resources for at-risk students
Willingness to make home visits
Experience working with at-risk students (empathetic while at the same time non-nonsense) and in removing barriers to a successful educational experience
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with all levels of school staff
Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with high school students and all levels of staff and community organizations to ensure that at-risk students are receiving alternative education and wrap around services necessary for becoming and remaining on track to successfully graduate high school.

SALARY: $25.00 per hour – 20 Hours per week, Year-Round

Court Liaison – Student Services – Part-time

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience working with the Juvenile Court system.
Experience working with families around school related issues.
Knowledge of school/community networking.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as liaison between schools, parents, the Courts, community agencies and police; represents the Manchester School District in Court proceedings regarding Abuse/Neglect and Juvenile matters; assures that all pertinent school-related information is presented to the Court in all proceedings in Abuse/Neglect and Juvenile Court matters; assures that the interest of the school and the student are adequately represented; proactively addresses school participation; maintains case histories on all cases; reviews and prepares reports; assists in development of school-wide attendance programs.

SALARY RANGE: $22,583.50 - $25,083.50

Special Education Program Coordinator - Middle School

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Special Education field (special education, learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders)
NH certification in Special Education (e.g. general special education, learning disabilities)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services in the daily management of District-wide Special Education Programs to meet the needs of the identified, at risk, and about to be identified students of the Manchester School District. Provides educational programs for children who cannot sufficiently benefit from regular classroom programs. Enables students to benefit from their educational opportunities to the fullest by eliminating, as far as possible, those problems that prevent or interfere with a student's learning.

SALARY: $46,000 - $51,000

Interpreter for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

WORK YEAR: School year, 180 days

SALARY: Starting salary $18.33 per hour with benefits package.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in American Sign Language, practical experience in the use of sign language and ability to instruct deaf and hard of hearing students in school curricular assignments. Certification by NH Registry of Interpreters preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides sign language interpreting in school classroom environment for deaf and hard of hearing students. Performs individual and group tutoring. May assist classroom teacher in completing reports and records.
