Changing Lives Through the Arts
In 2004 the Manchester School District (MSD) was awarded a five year grant from the NH Department of Education to establish 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) at Bakersville, Gossler, Hallsville, McDonough (elementary schools), Hillside, McLaughlin, Parkside and Southside (middle schools) and Central High School. Two additional sites, Beech and Wilson Elementary Schools, were added in 2006.
The aim of the program is to provide affordable, safe and secure afterschool and summer programming that incorporates the arts into a variety of hands-on, high interest activities that complement regular school activities and reinforce the classroom experience. Our goal is to increase students' academic achievement by helping to develop and strengthen academic skills through an arts-based curriculum.
The 21st CCLC program coincides with the MSD school calendar and does not operate on school holidays, school vacations, or early release days. If school is cancelled due to inclement weather or some other unforeseen circumstance, the program will also be cancelled. Notification will be made through the school's standard procedure.
