Course
Selection Process
Central High School is organized on a four year basis.
Credits are accumulated at the rate of one credit for a full
year course and one-half credit for a semester course. Lab
courses carry 1.5 credits.
Required Courses
If you plan to attend college, the following suggestions may
help you choose courses. The number of courses available
allow students with a wide variety of interests to choose
courses that fit their educational goals.
Students currently enrolled as sophomores, juniors and seniors need to accumulate twenty (20) credits. Sophomores must carry six (6) credits per year while juniors and seniors must carry five (5) credits per year in order to be considered full-time students. Current freshmen and future enrollees need to accumulate twenty-two (22) credits in order to graduate and be enrolled for six (6) credits per year. Credits are accumulated at the rate of one-half (0.5) credit per semester. Please refer to pages 4-5 of the Program of Studies for additional information.

Requirements for Class Standing (Classes of 2007, 2008, 2009)-

Class Rank
Principal's List is an average between 4.0 and 3.85; High Honors is an average between 3.5 and 3.84; Honor Roll is an average between 3.0 and 3.49. Students who fail a class are not eligible for Principal's List, High Honors or Honor Roll. A simple GPA is calculated based on these points.
Weighted Class Rank - Point Values
Weighted class rank will determine final rank in class. The Chart below indicates the value of each grade at each level.
