National Honor SocietyAdvisors: Mrs. Mirabile
Students may not apply for membership in the National Honor Society. Membership is granted only to those students selected by the Faculty Council in each high school. The membership criteria reviewed by the Faculty Council include the following requirements: a. Membership is open to juniors and seniors. Students invited for membership must complete service questionnaires on which they will list all activities in which they have participated and any offices they have held during high school. These activities may be in or out of school, but the student must be an active participating member of the organization listed. A student's job does not constitute service. Service is based on the total amount of hours spent in activities in and out of school. Coaches and advisors shall be contacted to verify the information provided. Falsifying information shall be considered a reason for disqualification from membership. Leadership and character will be evaluated by faculty, coaches and advisors. Students will receive the necessary forms for this evaluation. It is the sole responsibility of the student to give the evaluation form to those selected by the student and to provide a list to the faculty advisor by the established deadline. Leadership
Students selected for membership by the Faculty Council must continue to meet the standards of membership. Dismissal and other disciplinary action shall be decide by the Faculty Council. A student who is dismissed or resigns may not be reinstated. Additional responsibilities to sustain membership shall be the responsibility of the faculty advisor with the help of the Faculty Council. Attendance is expected at all N.H.S. meetings and activities unless one has a valid excuse and informs the N.H.S. advisor. Should a member's grade point average fall below 3.50, that person has a single marking term to raise it to the acceptable level. Failure to do so could result in dismissal from the National Honor Society. Advisor: Ms. Kathleen Mirabile.
