Department
The English Department offers a language arts program which
includes core and elective phases. The core program of freshman and sophomore years stresses the
fundamental skills of reading, writing, thinking, listening, and speaking. All juniors and
seniors -- except those taking American Studies, British Authors Seminar, World Literature,
Reading/Writing in U.S. History -- must select one literature and one writing course each semester.
