
The Beech Street Elementary School Library welcomes gifts and donations in the form of materials or monetary funds. All donations are reviewed according to the library's collection and development policy. Books not accepted for the collection will be disposed of in a manner decided by the library. The use and disposal of books will be at the discretion of the library media specialist in the interest of maintaining an appropriate and balanced collection.
The donations should meet the following criteria before being added to the collection:
The offered items are within the scope of the library's collection and their use falls within the stated library mission.
The library has enough time and resources to process and maintain the offered items.
The offered items will not unnecessarily duplicate materials already held.
The physical condition of the donated items is acceptable.
The library has space to store the donated items.
The offered items are supportive of the school curriculum or interests of faculty and students, and on an appropriate elementary school academic level.
The Donation policy for the Beech Street Elementary School Library has been created to improve the collection of the library and the services of the library for the school community. The policy is in accordance with the school mission and the guidelines of the District Policies.
