Counselor's Corner

Bakersville School Guidance Counselor is Nancy Juneau. Ms. Juneau has a master degree in School Counseling and Psychotherapy and loves to work with Bakersville students, teachers, parents and community services to help all students reach their academic, social and emotional potential.

Bakersville Guidance offers the following:

Individual guidance: Any student at Bakersville can see Ms. Juneau at the request of the student, teacher, administrator or parent to help them solve a problem.

Small Group: Once a week students can meet in a small group. Some groups are year long, small and occur during the school day. Short term groups (4 -12 weeks) are offered during lunch and recess.

Some groups that are offered are:

Self-esteem
Anger management
Conflict/making good choices
New students group
Friendship
Social skills
Divorce/changing/blended families
Grief and loss
Worry/stress
Girls groups
 

These groups vary from year to year depending on the need of the students or requests from parents and staff.

Classroom Guidance Program: The class guidance program can occur a few times a year in each classroom or for several weeks. If the students, parents or teacher feels there is a classroom issue Ms. Juneau will address it within the classroom.
