School Peer Mediation Program
Bakersville School began a school-based peer mediation program in 1997. We recognize that conflicts between students are a part of daily life in schools and we are invested in helping our students learn how to work out their differences constructively.
Mediation is a way to address these problems. A student mediation program gives students the opportunity to talk about their conflict and cooperatively work out their differences.
Our mediators are students who have been trained to mediate conflicts between students. With adult supervision, the mediators help students learn how to solve their disagreements in a constructive and respectful way.
